Welcome to SecuritySavvy

This web site is the online residence of Robert Schifreen, a writer and trainer with more than 20 years' experience in all aspects of IT security.

In 1985, Robert became the first person in the world to face a jury trial in connection with computer hacking.  His ultimate acquittal on all charges led to the introduction of the UK's Computer Misuse Act 1990, which now outlaws the practice.

Robert frequently speaks at security seminars and conferences across the UK, and can frequently be heard on radio or TV commentating on IT security events.  He is also the author of a book called "Defeating the hacker" which was published in 2006 by John Wiley & Sons.

Robert has devised a security awareness training seminar which can be presented on your company's premises to groups of staff.

He also offers a security sanity check service.  Talk to him for a couple of hours about about how you currently do things, and you'll receive a written report a few days later with advice on how you might be able to improve your company's IT security.

Schifreen's Fifteens is a collection of 15-point checklists to help everyone get to grips with basic IT security best practice.  They're free of charge.
